10th Anniversary Celebration

Mayor Jerry Morales thanked the founding members for their fundraising efforts that made the home possible. He said the home has boosted revenue for local restaurants, hotels and other businesses because of the visitors who come to see the home. Morales also reminisced about the time he catered for the president.

Executive Director Paul St. Hilaire expressed appreciation for the founding members’ vision, dedication and commitment to restoring and preserving the Bush Childhood Home. He said they “exemplified a dedication to fulfilling their vision and leaving a lasting memory of the remarkable Bush family.”

He then thanked long-time volunteers Sue Adams, Ann Bailey, Leann Brenner, Loyce Cole, Leaf Faller, Donna Ferguson, Lois Hagins, Martha Kallus and Gayle Dodson for their dedication to the home.

A slide-show of George W. Bush growing up, including pictures of him inside and outside of his childhood home, preceded introduction of the founding members: Clayton Alexander, Mike Bradford, Joseph Campbell, J. Camden Chancellor, Linda Cowden, Jose Cuevas Jr., R.C. “Skeet” Doss, Susie Evans, Becky Ferguson, Charles Gaines Jr., Jack Harper, Tommy Hudson, Joanne Langston, Cadell Liedtke, Kerry Marker, Jane McCoy, Darrell McDonald, Ronald Mullins, Jan O’Neill, Bill Scott, Patty Smith, Charles Spence, Kay Sutton, Sandra Thomas, Jana Tucker, Leslie Wood, Lucy Woodside and Dr. Charles Younger.
